Watch a clip from the forthcoming Capital Kehillah documentary film:

The creation of a spiritual community is much like transforming a house into a home.
For the past seven years, we have witnessed the growth of our people base from the Dupont Circle corridor to the Greater Washington area and beyond. What began as an outreach to the young Jewish professional has turned into an outreach for Jews of all ages from diverse religious backgrounds and geographic destinations.
Creating a home takes time and effort. First come the logistics. Placing the furniture and hanging up the pictures. Organizing the closets and filling up the pantry. Repainting the living room walls with your favorite color. Experiencing the beauty of Shabbat in your new home. Nesting in gratitude.
Creating a spiritual home also takes time and effort. First come the logistics. Praying together on Friday nights. Chanting collectively the Kol Nidre mantra on Yom Kippur. Connecting people to each other by creating geographic shevatim (tribal units) for community dialogue and celebrations.Sharing our stories in a safe soul-environment. Committing to a community and belonging there. Nesting in gratitude.
The launching and nurturing of our new website is an effort to design and maintain a singular spiritual home through advanced technological access and services. Thank you, Andy Laken, webmaster extraordinaire.
We welcome your internet exploration online and your physical presence offline.
We welcome you to the next step in the creation of our CK spiritual community. Let's go deeper together! It is that simple!
B'vracha, (in blessing)
Rabbi Tamara Miller
