Biographies

Many people come together to create a Capital Kehillah service or event. Here are some of the folks you may see on the bima, or who help things behind the scenes.

Behind closed curtains, father and daughter bent over the Talmud together. Another Yentl was born! Rabbi Tamara Miller and her father, the late Orthodox rabbi, Rabbi Benjamin Miller, fused destinies when at the age of 48, Tamara graduated from the only post denominational seminary in America, the Academy for Jewish Religion in New York City. She blends her traditional background with a contemporary palette of innovation and inspiration.

Rabbi Miller is the Director of Spiritual Care at George Washington University Hospital in downtown Washington, DC

Rabbi Tamara Miller is the proud mother of four children and five grandchildren.

Denise has been the executive administrator for the Capital Kehillah since June 2005. 

 

Sariel Ende

Sariel Ende (MA, International Peace and Conflict Resolution) loves music and has been singing since her debut at age 4 of "Workin' 9 to 5" on her family tape. Raised in a conservative synagogue in North Carolina, she is overjoyed to be a part of a new, progressive, multidenominational community. Sariel works as a Volunteer Coordinator at IONA Senior Services.

Eric Fendler has been leading the High Holiday torah reading with Capital Kehillah since 2003. In addition to Torah reading on High Holidays, and Megillah reading at Purim, Eric has taught adult courses in Torah reading at the Jewish Study Center and has tutored bar and bat mitzvah students at Temple Beth Ami in Rockville. Eric works as a computer system engineer in Bethesda.

Andy has been making websites since 1996. He is experienced in strategy, design, programming, databases, project management, information architecture – if there's a web job he's probably done it. He has developed websites for many corporate, institutional, and nonprofit organizations, but he is most passionate about using the web to connect people, to enhance personal growth, and to effect social change.
Brian Nemiroff

Born in Brooklyn, NY, Brian Nemiroff has been a Ba'al Teki'ah in his synagogue’s main sanctuary since the age of 13. Since moving to the DC area he has been with the Capital Kehillah from its beginnings. Retired as an accountant, he now sees the country from the windows of his 18 wheeler, relocating families across the nation.
